| Profile | The Area Consultative Committee (ACC) of North East Victoria was established to advise the government on employment issues and on ways to improve job and training opportunities in the North East. The ACC has the opportunity to have greater input to the Minister on national policy issues. It complements other organisations eg national associations and industry bodies, in offering advice to the Minister, DOTARS and DEWR and government committees where appropriate. ACCs are independent. They determine their own Mission Statements. Each takes a broader, long term view of employment and economical development prospects in their regions and constantly reviews its Membership to ensure it is equipped to proved broader, balanced and quality information to the Minister on employment markets. Each must provide the Minister with a Regional Employment Strategy and then report quarterly on the achievements gained. Other submissions addressing local issues may be prepared in response to Ministerial reference or emerging regional priorities. |
| Speciality | Fostering strong links between the community and the programmes and services of government agencies. Assisting the effective operation of the employment placement market and use of government resources in the North East by: Articulating business and community needs for employment services and reporting on employer and community satisfaction levels. Identifying regional skills needs and training opportunities with particular emphasis on improving employment levels for indigenous Australia's. Encouraging relationships between schools and businesses to help young Australia's into real jobs. Assisting local businesses to establish links and networks that will ensure the economic growth for the North east is maximised. Supporting the 'whole of government' approach for tackling employment issues. |
